Smithsonian Starstruck: An Immersive Experience

Smithsonian Starstruck: An Immersive Experience makes its UK debut with a virtual reality journey that transports guests into the cosmos. Explore galaxies, stars and black holes on an extraordinary adventure beyond Earth, bringing the universe closer than ever before.

Built using real astronomical data, Starstruck engages the senses as guests touch, hear and navigate the wonders of space in a free-roaming, interactive experience. The journey celebrates centuries of scientific innovation, highlighting how exploration continues to expand our understanding of the universe.

The experience begins atop the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory’s (SAO) Whipple Observatory, where a cosmic guide, Astro, awaits. From there, guests embark on a voyage through deep space aboard humanity’s most powerful telescopes—Hubble, James Webb and Chandra—revealing the universe in remarkable detail.

Drift through a stunning 3D expanse, passing thousands of galaxies, racing through the Milky Way and soaring close to the Sun to witness its immense energy. Along the way, encounter extreme exoplanets, a dying star and the edge of a supermassive black hole, showcasing the scale and beauty of the cosmos.

Developed by the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) and Fever, Starstruck offers a 40-minute free-roaming adventure.

Running from 26 June to 31 October 2026 and located on Level 1, the experience can be booked alongside a drinks reception in one of the following of the museum’s gallery spaces: Energy Hall, Illuminate, Medicine or the Smith Centre.
