Why was the Science Museum chosen for this event?
We previously hosted Creating The Future at the IET, but wanted a change of venue to better reflect the evolving identity of the event. The Science Museum was selected as it aligns strongly with the CTF brand: forward-looking, innovative, and rooted in scientific and technological progress. It also offered the flexibility and facilities needed to accommodate our specific event requirements, making it an ideal setting to inspire and engage our audience.

What sort of experience did you want to create?
We aimed to create an experience that was immersive, thought-provoking, and future-focused, one that would leave attendees feeling inspired and empowered to engage with the big issues shaping our world. The event was designed to spark curiosity, encourage bold conversations, and foster meaningful connections among changemakers, innovators, and thought leaders. By choosing a venue like the Science Museum and curating a programme around pressing global challenges, we wanted to create an atmosphere that felt both intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant.

What made you decide on Illuminate for your event?
Illuminate was selected as the venue for Creating The Future because it offered a modern, flexible space that aligned perfectly with the event’s forward-thinking ethos. Located within the Science Museum, it provided a visually striking and immersive environment that complemented the themes of innovation, technology, and progress. The venue’s capacity, AV capabilities, catering services and layout suited our programme and audience suggestions from previous events, while also enhancing the overall experience we wanted to deliver: dynamic, engaging, and future-focused.

How did Illuminate work for your event? What were the standout features?
We used the Level 5 as the seated space as the views were the major wow factor. This brought in natural light which meant we were able to use uplighters and lighting to really make an impact. It was open landscape with the ability to go and use the downstairs Level 4 too. The big standout was the view, location and the amenities we were able to incorporate with lighting.

Who were your catering and AV partners?
Catering – Moving Venue (They had sustainable menus)
AV – White Light
Agency Partner – Staging & On-The-Day Management

Moving Venue were exceptional, not only was the food creative and delicious, but their team were present and responsive throughout, which made a huge difference on the day. White Light were our AV superheroes, their onsite team were brilliant and went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly.
