Client: SEP2
Event: SEP2 Cyber Summit
Date: 15th May 2025
No of guests: 200
Event space: IMAX: The Ronson Theatre and Flight
What was the event brief & objective?
This was our second Cyber Summit, which has now become an annual event. Primarily, we want to provide a useful, informative day for our customers and prospects. We wanted to emphasise thought leadership and provide good content as a lot of events in our industry tend to be very sales and demo focussed. The social element is also important to us – getting people together to network in an enjoyable way!
Why was the Science Museum chosen for this event?
We wanted a totally new venue this year in central London and something that was a little bit different with a spark of personality to it. The Science Museum stood out early on as there were so many options with different spaces within the venue. This was great for us because normally it’s just one event space, but this gave us the ability to mix and match spaces as part of the event programme. It was also a happy coincidence that we have a brand as part of our services – Wingman – which tied perfectly into the Flight gallery!
The spaces themselves are all visually incredible with the objects all around you and the planes in Flight provided such an amazing backdrop.
What appealed to you about using IMAX, Flight and Power Up for your event?
As it was scheduled for an early summer evening and our guests had mostly travelled from overseas, we wanted to create a welcoming British experience that complemented the high standards of Imperial London. Following an intense day of academic debate, we wanted to give them a relaxed experience where they could rest and chat with old and new friends.
How did your chosen space enhance your event?
Guests arrived into Flight for morning networking, teas and coffees. Everyone then moved into IMAX – which was in close proximity so easy for guests to navigate – and we spend the majority of the day in here, returning to Flight for lunch and networking with sponsors (who all had screens to run demos, banners and merchandise). After the main sessions in IMAX, we moved to Power Up for drinks and nibbles.
Being able to break up the event and move between the different spaces really kept the guests’ energy up as they weren’t sat in one place for the duration of the day.
How did guests enjoy the interactive nature of Power Up?
As soon as I saw Power Up and the retro games, I knew it would be perfect and our guests would love it! It helped foster the kind of engagement we wanted – rather than being a little awkward the games were a social lubricant and gave guests the opportunity to start conversations a little easier. It was great to see members of our team, members of the vendors team and customers playing together! It was really fun and visually really nice as well – the photos we had from here look really good as it’s such an interesting space.
Who were your catering and AV partners?
Food by Dish recommended bowl food, which worked well with the format of our event. We didn’t have a lot of time for the food, so we didn’t want people queuing. Having the food circling around worked really well. The team were really helpful in terms of accommodating our budget and they also provided the furniture and cloakroom. They were really easy and friendly to work with.
Wise Productions lit the Flight gallery with our brand colours, provided audio for background music and announcements, as well as an LED display screen for each of our sponsors.
What feedback did you receive from guests?
Everyone was really pleased with the event, with many saying that the venue added a lot to the experience and was very interesting. We had a lot of feedback that the location and venue were excellent, as well as comments such as:
“Nice to be in a different venue rather than a boring conference centre.”
“Nice to have some rich entertainment like the retro games during the networking reception.”
Client testimonial:
“Hosting an event at the Science Museum was absolutely fantastic. Our contacts at the museum made planning the event a smooth and easy process, and the space itself was perfect for us. The only question now is how we can exceed, or even match, this venue for our future events!”
