Revealing the Wonder of the Science Museum

Event: Venue Showcase: ‘Revealing the Wonder of the Science Museum’
Date: 17th April 2024
No of guests: 53
Venue: Smith Centre & Illuminate

Objective:

The corporate events team at the Science Museum hosted a Spring-themed showcase event to bring old and new clients together at the museum for a drinks reception and intimate dinner.

Themed around ‘Revealing the Wonder of the Science Museum’, the event was designed to showcase the versatile event spaces on offer, highlighting the option to exclusively hire the entire museum for a takeover event, as well as celebrating Illuminate’s 5th Birthday. The evening also provided an important opportunity for the team to share the museum’s mission and values and how clients directly support this by hosting events at the museum.

The event:

The evening began with a spring-themed drinks reception in the Smith Centre, featuring a live teppanyaki station and cocktails from catering partner Moving Venue, and a live violoncellist performance provided by Sternberg Clarke.

Guests then made their way up to Level 4 of Illuminate where a film highlighting the museum’s mission and values was projection-mapped onto the walls by production partner White Light. The film re-introduced the museum’s core values: Think Big, Reveal Wonder, Ignite Curiosity, Be Open For All and Share Authentic Stories, which underscore the museum’s commitment to breaking down barriers in STEM and delivering exceptional experiences.

Guests then ascended the staircase to Level 5 of Illuminate where they were wowed with a showstopping intimate dinner set up in the middle of the room, with the London skyline as the backdrop. Spring-themed florals from Lavender Green Flowers adorned the floors and tables with furniture to match provided by Options Greathire. A two-course, seasonal dinner was provided by Moving Venue, which was complemented by post-dinner cocktails and entertainment including a hula hooper, contortionist and singer.

Supplier partners:

Collaboration with key suppliers ensured a seamless and memorable experience for attendees. The spring-themed décor, entertainment, lighting, furniture, and catering contributed to a vibrant atmosphere, reinforcing the museum’s commitment to innovation, curiosity, and inclusivity.

Production from White Light included projection mapping and tailored lighting, and audio for the Smith Centre and both floors of Illuminate.

Catering by Moving Venue included a live teppanyaki station, a two-course spring-themed menu, and post-dinner cocktails.

Lavender Green Flowers created beautiful floral arrangements across the Smith Centre and Illuminate, including an impressive centre piece in the Smith Centre.

Sternberg Clarke provided live entertainment including a violinist, hula hooper, contortionist, and after-dinner singer.

Furniture and tableware, bar and food stations to fit the intimate nature and theme of the dinner were provided by Options GreatHire.
