What was the event brief & objective?
An employee awards event for c140 people, recognising and celebrating Kier colleagues who deliver for our company, customers and the communities we serve, day in, day out.

2026 marked the 10th anniversary of Pride of Kier, and we wanted something extra special to bring colleagues from across the UK together for a standout event.

Why was the Science Museum chosen for this event?
There were a few reasons. It’s a unique space in central London, with good transport links and accommodation options close by, so it hit the brief of it being in a major city that colleagues from across the Group can easily get to.

We were really impressed by the view of the London skyline in Illuminate, and the team had some great ideas about how to make the event stand out.

But making it more special for our 10th anniversary event was that Kier built the Wellcome Wing, where the Space exhibition is housed. When we found out we could host our drinks reception in the space, it immediately went to the top of our list!

What sort of experience did you want to create?
Pride of Kier is about celebrating and recognising our people. Based on our decade of experience, we knew it needed to be a venue with talking points to support networking, and a space that felt authentic to Kier and comfortable for attendees.

The space-themed bar and cocktails in the drinks reception started things off on a great note, and the team worked with us on things that created stand out moments, including branding the lift that took people to the main space, live streaming the event to colleagues at home.

Being able to use Level 4 of Illuminate for videography and photography helped make the event run smoothly, as we had a dedicated space for winners’ photos and post-win interviews.

What made you decide on the combination of Illuminate & Space for your event?
Ultimately, a space themed drinks reception, a walk through some of the exhibitions showcasing great engineers and then up to Illuminate, and a three-course meal and awards ceremony with a breathtaking view of London’s skyline.

How did this space work for this event?
It was all about creating an experience for our guests, and being able to have both spaces with a walk through the museum, meant we were able to give our guests plenty to talk about, feel connected to and be able to share stories with others after the event.

Who were your catering and AV partners? Was anything bespoke created for the event?
We used Moving Venue for catering, and White Light for AV.

For the dinner, we chose from the extensive Spring/Summer menu that Moving Venue shared with us, with a few amendments to accommodate dietary requirements. The food was fantastic, it looked brilliant, the service was first-class and we’ve had great feedback from attendees.

They also helped us create our space-themed cocktails for the drinks reception, which added a great element of theatre to the event.

White Light were responsive, helpful and supported the first Pride of Kier livestream. This was a great way of including employees who couldn’t be at the event, as they could watch the awards ceremony from home. We’ve also had great feedback about this element of the evening.

What feedback did you receive from guests?
Overall, guests have rated the 2026 Pride of Kier awards 4.8 stars out of 5, with colleagues calling it a “a night to remember”, and highlighting “the people, their stories and catching up with colleagues” and “the incredible atmosphere” as their standout moments of the night.

Client testimonial:
“The Science Museum was the perfect backdrop to Pride of Kier’s 10th anniversary event. To host a special evening in a venue Kier had a hand in building added an extra element of celebration to the night, and the team helped us to pull together an event that people are still talking about a month later.”
