What was the event brief & objective?
The objective of InnovateX 2026 was to bring together leaders from across the global Experience Economy to explore the trends, technologies and projects shaping the future of visitor experiences. The event aimed to combine strategic insight with practical case studies, while creating meaningful opportunities for networking, collaboration and business development.

Why was the Science Museum chosen for this event?
The Science Museum was a natural fit for InnovateX. As an iconic institution at the intersection of innovation, education and public engagement, it perfectly reflects the themes of the conference. Its reputation, central London location and ability to host both content and experiential elements made it an ideal venue partner.

What sort of experience did you want to create?
We wanted to create an experience that went beyond a traditional conference – something immersive, social and reflective of the sector itself. The aim was to blend high-quality content with interactive environments, giving delegates the opportunity to learn, connect and experience innovation first-hand.

What made you decide on the combination of IMAX: The Ronson Theatre, Flight and Power Up for your event?
The combination allowed us to design a journey for delegates across the day and into the evening. The IMAX provided a powerful, high-impact setting for keynote sessions, the Flight gallery offered an open and flexible space for networking and activations, and Power Up created a unique, playful environment for the evening mixer.

How did these spaces work for your event? What were the benefits of using these spaces for your event and what features stood out the most?
The spaces worked exceptionally well together.

  • The IMAX created a strong focal point for the programme, with its scale and production capabilities elevating the content and speaker experience.
  • The Flight gallery provided a dynamic, informal environment for networking, exhibitions and drop-in activations, encouraging movement and interaction throughout the day.
  • Power Up was a real highlight – offering a distinctive and engaging setting for the evening event, which helped extend conversations in a relaxed and memorable way.

The ability to move between these different environments added depth and energy to the overall experience.

Who were your catering and AV partners?
Our catering partner was Moving Venue, who delivered high-quality catering throughout the day, including refreshments, lunch and evening service, with a focus on efficiency and consistency for a large delegate audience.

Production was delivered by Experience UK members; d&b solutions, with White Light supporting staging and lighting. Together they created a seamless, high-quality production environment across all spaces, ensuring strong visual and audio delivery throughout the programme.

The production approach focused on clarity, impact and flexibility across multiple environments, rather than a single themed aesthetic.

What feedback did you receive from guests?
Feedback was extremely positive. Delegates highlighted the quality of the speakers and content, the diversity of organisations represented, and the opportunity to network across the sector.

The venue itself was frequently mentioned as a standout, particularly the use of multiple spaces and the evening mixer in Power Up, which many described as a memorable and unique experience.
