We have now opened our doors to the world’s largest medical galleries: Medicine: The Wellcome Galleries.
Following a £24m transformation of the first floor of the Science Museum, the five galleries feature more than 3,000 medical artefacts from the collections of Sir Henry Wellcome and the Science Museum Group, alongside striking artworks, interactive games and immersive experiences that bring the history of medicine to life.
Medicine: The Wellcome Galleries is available for clients to enjoy drinks receptions, where up to 400 guests can marvel at the collection of significant artefacts, thought-provoking contemporary objects and new art pieces on display. Clients can further enhance their event by hiring the inspiring Making the Modern World gallery for a post-reception dinner, treating guests to an unforgettable experience at the heart of the museum.
With the five galleries designed by WilkinsonEyre – Medicine and Bodies; Exploring Medicine; Medicine and Treatments: The GSK Gallery; Medicine and Communities; Faith, Hope and Fear – the vast spaces cover more than 3000m², an area equivalent to 1,500 hospital beds, meaning that over half of the Science Museum has now been transformed since 2010.
Jodie Guilford, Business Development and Marketing manager at the Science Museum, said: “We are so excited to be further expanding our portfolio of stand-out event spaces with the launch of Medicine: The Wellcome Galleries, offering clients the opportunity to enjoy exclusive private access to the world’s largest medical galleries. With demand ever-higher for truly unique event experiences, what better way to deliver this for guests than treating them to an evening exploring the museum after-hours!”
