Connecting our event spaces with an AV solution by White Light

We’ve re-purposed our new events space the Smith Centre to become a fully connected venue alongside Illuminate which we launched earlier this year. Clients can now hire both venues simultaneously for events and broadcast live coverage of what is happening within each space, thanks to Illuminate’s in-house technical production partner, White Light, who installed the same state-of-the-art technology across both.

This connectivity enables a range of uses, from presenter Green Rooms for guest speakers to watch the main event remotely, to conference breakout sessions where audio and video content can be sent instantaneously between the venues.

Following the success of Illuminate’s launch, we have yet another option added to our portfolio of stand-out event spaces, with the Smith Centre re- purposed to offer four spaces of varying size that suit a wide variety of event purposes for daytime or evening hire.

Recently refurbished, many of the building’s original features have been elegantly preserved to accommodate guest numbers ranging from a small meeting of 8 delegates to a drinks reception for 200.

Jodie Guilford, Business Development & Marketing Manager here at the Science Museum said: “Many of our clients are often looking for ways to extend the reach of their event content and increase their audience. The connection between our two newest venues means that they can achieve this all under our roof, with the ability to conduct large main plenary sessions and smaller breakouts simultaneously, significantly enhancing our event offering.”

Jonjo Glynn, Venues Director at White Light adds: “With Illuminate being such an innovative venue, it was crucial that the Smith Centre installation matched the technical capabilities of this. The system installed allows for infinite flexibility, which is essential for meeting the bespoke needs of a broad range of clients.”
