And the winner is…Illuminate

We’re delighted to announce that the chosen name of our new multi-functional events venue is: Illuminate.

Capitalising on the museum’s wider branding and existing references to light and the advancement of knowledge, the name Illuminate was chosen to represent a number of themes including ‘shining a light on a subject’, ‘a sense of enlightenment’ and ‘possibilities and progression’.

The design of the multi-level space reflects perfectly the concept behind Illuminate’s identity; level five is flooded with natural daylight and is juxtaposed with level four’s blackout space, which will be ideal for large scale productions.

Ben Lheureux, Head of Catering & Events at the Science Museum Group, says: “We put a lot of thought into the name of our new dedicated events space. We wanted to create something that is not only synonymous with the Science Museum Group and our brand values, but that resonates with the forward-thinking events industry. With our ethos of innovation and inspiring futures, Illuminate will be the ideal platform to host engaging events that encourage new ways of thinking.”

Illuminate is situated on levels four and five of the Science Museum and will be available for both daytime and evening hire for capacities of up to 400 for dinners and conferences and 450 for receptions. One of the unique features of the new space will be a panoramic window on level five offering stunning views of the City and an abundance of natural daylight, a key element in ensuring a productive meeting or conference experience.

White Light has been named as the exclusive production partner, ensuring that the venue leads the way in terms of its AV and production capabilities.  A tender process is currently underway to appoint an exclusive catering partner – an announcement will be made in the next couple of months.
